Our leadership team are the visionaries behind our business; they create and share the inspirational vision for their department. Just like our team members, they are continuously focused on understanding the needs of our customers to deliver outstanding customer service.

This month we congratulate Amy Badman and welcome her into her new position as Head of Credit Management. Amy joined the team at Pelican in 2016 as Credit Manager, bringing with her a wealth of experience in leadership in financial services. In her new positon, Amy looks after our Credit Operations, Social Policy and External Liaison teams and is proud to be part of a culture where support and guidance is provided to customers who may struggle with their bills.

As well as coaching and developing her team, Amy enjoys being a member of Weston-Super-Mare athletic club and is qualified running leader.

Moving on to service, and it’s been a month of celebration for our team members here at Pelican Business Services. Yet again, the number of compliments we receive recognising the hard work and dedication of our team members overwhelm me.

My first shout out this month goes to Gill from our Live Chat team who received some great feedback following an interaction on Live Chat where we were able to assist a customer with their house move.

“Gill was amazing in helping us just now to sort out our meter reading & final bill, because of moving. Also, very glad to have you as a provider in our new property! Thank you very much!”

My second shout out goes to Stella in our Social Policy team where we exceeded the customers’ expectations so much they took to poetry…

We are proud to provide expert customer service to all of Bristol Water’s customers so a huge well done to Stella for helping us #StandOutFromTheCrowd

Shout outs to Sarah and Anthea from our Customer Relations team who both received lovely comments from our customers this month:

“I cannot express my thanks adequately for your understanding. I have been a customer for over 50 years. I will remember with gratitude for all time” .

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your help. You handled the problem in a very professional manner and put me at ease, assuring me that there was a solution” .

My final shout out goes to goes to Matt from our Bristol North Meter Reading team. Whilst Matt was out completing his rounds he came across a lost wallet. Matt went above and beyond the call of duty and took the time to return the wallet to its rightful owner. Our Meter Reading Manager Graham received the following email after the event:

“We just wanted to say a huge thankyou to you for returning the lost wallet to us. We did try and find you later but you had moved on from that job up the road from where we live. It was an incredibly kind and honest gesture of yours and we truly appreciate it. If you are ever out this way again then do please stop by as there is a bottle of wine with your name on it!

At Pelican Business Services, we have an established set of values that define what we stand for. Our values haven’t been invented they have been shaped by our company’s history, the work we do for our clients and by the experiences of our team members and the people we come in contact with.

You can see from the examples above that our team members are proud to live the values every day, our four company values of expert, trusted, engaging and helpful means that we are passionate and professional across a range of disciplines and respected for the quality of our work, allowing us to be recognised as excellent employers.

As we move onto Health and Well-being it’s been a month of Al Fresco team huddles, Pelican Picnics, a summer Fete and not forgetting our annual Sports day. A huge thank you this month to our Health and Well-being champions Nicola, Jade, Lauren and Liz. Although in typical British fashion the weather decided to do a U-turn on us, the rain certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirit! The event still went ahead inside along with hula-hoop, limbo and giant Jenga competition!

I am delighted to tell you that due to our team members’ contribution we managed to raise a phenomenal £303.90 for ‘The West of England MS Therapy Centre’ during our Summer Fete!! #Community

On a final note, a huge thank you to team members across the business who took part in our ‘Bring a bra to work’ day this month organised by Claire from our Processing team. The team came out in force and we managed to collect an amazing 169 bras in total. The bras were collected in support of ‘Care for Uganda’ who donate them to women and girls in Uganda to help prevent the risk of sexual assault. #Proud
